The Malbec grape is used to produce medium to full-bodied, dry red wine with good acidity and higher tannins and alcohol levels. The grapes tend to have dark, inky purple color profiles and ripe fruit flavors of cherry, plum and blackberry, which give to Malbec wines a decidedly jammy character.
Luigi Bosca Reserva Malbec (Argentina): This is the wine that makes a malbec a malbec. Bouquet of ripe red fruits, spices, and pepper, with soft sweet tannins. Nice and full bodied, an impeccable wine.
NEW YORK SOUR 2 ounces rye or bourbon whiskey, 1 ounce fresh lemon juice, and 1 ounce simple syrup in a cocktail shaker. Fill with ice, cover, and shake until outside of shaker is frosty, about 30 seconds. Strain into a rocks glass filled with fresh ice. Gently pour 1/2 ounce fruity red wine (such as Shiraz or Malbec) over the back of a spoon held just above the drinks surface so wine floats on top.
