Laurel and Hardy were one of the most popular and critically acclaimed comedy double acts of the early Classical Hollywood era of American cinema. Composed of thin Englishman Stan Laurel (1890–1965) and large American Oliver Hardy (1892–1957), they became well known during the late 1920s to the mid-1940s for their slapstick comedy, with Laurel playing the clumsy and childlike friend of the pompous Hardy. They made over 100 films together.

Off the record: Words cannot sufficiently describe the love I have for this man. It is impossible not to be happy while watching him. He is a true genius of cinema and comedy and I wish he could know how grateful I am for what he did for comedy. Better than Chaplin, better than Lloyd, and tied with Keaton. There was nobody like him, and there never will be. My spirit animal and, truly, my hero. Quite simply, the best there ever was. There will only ever be one Stan Laurel…

Sweet memories watching Laurel and Hardy. As odd a couple as any, the exploits of this bumbling due kept me enthralled all through my childhood and adolescence. This is comedy at its finest, pure unadulterated fun, kept me in good humour all through; it was great fun growing up with L&H.
