The goanna ('go-anna') is an Australian reptile that is also known as the monitor lizard. Some species of goanna can grow up to 2 m (around 6 ft) long.

My friend's cousin has one of these, and he's gorgeous. A tegu, I believe what they are. I'm not quite sure.

Goannas are large carnivorous lizards with over 30 extant species. 25 of which are native to Australia. The largest species (Varanus giganteus) can grow over 2.5 metres in length and is found in the most remote desert regions of the north west. They eat insects, reptiles, small mammals and some species are venomous.
