Knights Templar: Around 1119 CE, King Baldwin II of Jerusalem agreed to grant the request to form a monastic order for the protection of the pilgrims traveling to the Holy Land in Jerusalem. This request of this new order came from a French knight, Hugues de Payens, and his relative Godfrey de Saint-Omer. The Order took the name of the Poor Knights of Christ and the Temple of Solomon, or "#Templar" #knights.
The Latin Rule was specific codes for the Templar Order. Its 72 clauses defined the ideal behaviour for the Knights, such as the types of garments they were to wear and how to eat. As the Order grew, more guidelines were added, and the original list of 72 clauses was expanded to several hundred in its final form. Some of my family were these knights.
