Woollen 'çarpana kemer' (card woven belt) for women, from the Dursunbey district (80 km to the East of Balıkesir), ca. mid-20th century. Part of the local traditional rural festive costume. The decorative endings feature cotton fabric, buttons, woollen fringes, blue & green glass rings (some of them of antique - Roman or early Byzantine - origin) and Cypraea shells (called 'deve boncuğu' in Turkey = camel's bead).
