Evolution is the name of Journey's fifth studio album. It was released in April 1979 on Columbia Records.  The album was their highest charting album to date, selling three million copies in the US. They retained Roy Thomas Baker as producer but drummer Aynsley Dunbar was replaced with Steve Smith, formerly with Ronnie Montrose's band.

Been working on this fictional Journey album cover for a week and I think fans will like it. In 1980 Journey adopted the logo of the scarab beetle, a symbol borrowed from Egyptian hieroglyphs. It was believed that the beetle would roll the sun across the sky and into the next life/heaven at night and return the next morning. So I made my rocket powered beetle rolling the sun on a track made of crosses into Paradise. The logo in the back of the picture is the symbol for eternity and that is…
