Paint/stain them first, then line the drawers w/ pretty shelf paper, wallpaper, or decoupage scrapbook paper. Glue or screw in cute knobs to the outsides & glue all the boxes together (off center, of course) w/ wood glue. Finally, nail tiny gold nails into the drawers like shown in the photo.
