Jack Warden (born John Warden Lebzelter; Sept 18, 1920 – Jul 19, 2006) American actor. He joined US Navy in 1938, & was stationed in China for 3 years with Yangtze River Patrol. In 1941, he joined US Merchant Marine but switched to US Army in 1942 where he served as a paratrooper in 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment during World War II. In 1944, on the eve of the D-Day invasion, he shattered his leg by landing in a tree during a night-time practice jump in England.
