Walpi Village // First Mesa, Hopi Reservation, Arizona. Continuously inhabited for more than 1100 years. Walpi is the iconic village of the Hopi tribe. Founded in the thirteenth century in a cleft of the mesa formation, Walpi was moved to its current location as a defensive measure after the Pueblo Revolt of 1680. The village was built using hand-trimmed sandstone and earth, and grew organically over the centuries.
Kurba is an old Russian village of Yaroslavl oblast situated 20 km southwest of Yaroslavl on the open high place on the right bank of the river Kurbitsy. The main attraction of the village is the Church of Kazan Mother of God Icon. This is interesting in its architecture building. The masters, who built this church, were inspired by the motifs of baroque combining them with traditional methods of Yaroslavl architecture of the 17th century. The photos by av_otus.
