Army SGT. Stephen M. New, 29, of Bartlett, Tennessee. Died July 28, 2013, serving during Operation Enduring Freedom. Assigned to 2nd Battalion, 20th Special Forces Group (Airborne), Jackson, Mississippi. Died in the U.S. military hospital at Bagram Airfield, Parwan Province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when his unit was attacked by enemy small arms fire in the Sarobi District of Kabul Province, Afghanistan.

Seven year old Jacob Mills was at his aunts house when he was involved in a gun accident and was shot in the head with a 22 rifle. Jacob is currently in Batson Children's Hospital in Jackson, Ms fighting for his life. Barksdale was wounded in his left knee, followed by a cannonball to his left foot, and finally was hit by another bullet to his chest, knocking him off his horse. He told his aide, W.R. Boyd, "I am killed! Tell my wife and children that I died fighting at my post." His troops were forced to leave him for dead on the field and he died the next morning in a Union field hospital (the Joseph Hummelbaugh farmhouse).
Mississippi Baptist Hospital Jackson, MS---This is a picture of the old Baptist Hospital in Mississippi. I had all but two of my surgeries on my leg performed at this hospital. The Crippled Children Clinic was around back in the basement.
