December 15, 1939: Gone with the Wind premieres in Atlanta. The event was celebrated with 3 days of festivities, including parades, a costume ball, and the decoration of downtown area with Confederate flags and antebellum facades. A state holiday was declared. Jimmy Carter said it was the "biggest event to happen in the South in my lifetime."
