@Megan Biard -- I got us reservations for here on Friday and Saturday... I also reserved a room at one of the big chains just in case we don't want to do a small b&b. This place had great reviews and was really affordable, plus it's right downtown and walking distance to tons of stuff.
Blackberry Farm is a 4,200-acre working farm in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains, near Walland TN. Kreis and Sandy Beall bought the property in 1976 and over the years have turned it into an expanse of guest rooms and cottages that has been named one of the best small hotels in America. Today, their son Sam runs the property, although Kreis still directs the design of all the guest rooms, often with the help of Atlanta designer Suzanne Kasler.
THE RIVER URE Hawes, England. One of the prettiest towns I stayed in during my UK visit was Hawes in the Yorkshire Dales. The Bulls Head Hotel is in a grade-II listed building and provided a great place to sleep for the night (non paid or expected advertisement). The River Ure passes between houses and shops with a small waterfall making for a great photographic opportunity.
