The best primer to use when painting laminate surfaces - a latex “bonding” primer and a semi-gloss paint finish. A bonding primer is crucial. I always use Glidden Gripper. It works great and is affordable.

Bedroom paint idea-- this would look great with the dark chocolate wall in my other post... Add a high gloss paint underneath as the base coat, let dry-- appply the painters tape, paint the darker flat top coat and it would be even more amazing than this wall!
