Gary Speed was a major part of the great Leeds midfield that won the title in 1992. He came from Chester & played for the club for six years before heading off for boyhood club Everton. He was a great all round player, strong in the air & on the ground and scored vital goals regularly. His death in 2011 remains one of the great shocks of our time. In November 2011 the world of Football was shocked to hear about the death of Gary Speed, a winner of the old 2nd and 1st Division titles whilst at Leeds. In the first game after his death Leeds United fans placed club shirts, memorabilia and cards on the Billy Bremner statue outside Elland Road as a tribute to the man.
