Family/Dining room turned into playroom. Pictures of our son with family members who live long distance hang above the play kitchen. The art corner provides storage area & highest shelf contains items only accessible to me & are used under my supervision (i.e. glue, scissors, play-doh). A white shelving unit is used in a lackadaisical Montessori-style with the top being open & the bottom containing blocks, Legos, matchbox cars, etc. Above it, a chicken-wire frame is used to display artwork.
That what you want, folks – things that naturally look high-end without trying to look high-end. Think Meryl Streep not Joan Rivers. Sometimes classic, simple, natural and understated is just wildly more successful than brash and loud.
