Early boomers had Prayer in school. On June 25, 1962, the Supreme Court decided in Engel v. Vitale that a prayer approved by the New York Board of Regents for use in schools violated the First Amendment by constituting an establishment of religion. And the country has gone to hell in a hand basket since - literally.
This is a fun and engaging activity for secondary students to debate the controversial issue of prayer in public schools. Students will analyze the debate of separation of church and state and the 1st amendment of the Constitution by participating in “philosophical chairs”. They will also be able to understand the significant Supreme Court case of Engel v Vitale. $4
