Designed by David and Elizabeth Emanuel, this pale blue tulle ballgown adorned with pearlized sequins with pink sash and bodice bow was first worn by Diana with the Spencer tiara in Australia in 1983. She wore it again on the same tour in Wellington, New Zealand. In 1985 Diana wore this dress to Cardiff, Wales. Lot #23, this gown raised $ 27,600 for Diana's charities.
"She wanted the dress to be something that people would love to watch," said Elizabeth Emanuel who, with her husband David, designed the gown. Seamstress Nina Missetzia spent three months hand-stitching the creation.
A black taffeta dress worn by Princess Diana has been sold for a whopping £192,000 at Kerry Taylors auction in London. The late princess wore the dress to her first official appearance with Prince Charles in 1981, which lead to a media frenzy for its revealing nature and unorthodox colour. The dress was created by designers Elizabeth and David Emanuel.
