Image via The Digs ∞ The demolition of the Wabash Terminal began in October, 1953. The Pittsburgh Press wrote, “With roof off, the workmen swarmed in and out of offices. Using crowbars and sledge hammers they pried and smashed.” A flatiron train station built in 1904, the Wabash was part of robber baron Jay Gould’s attempt to build a transcontinental railroad empire. It was torn down to make way for a Gateway Center office building.
