Daniel Hudson Burnham, FAIA (September 4, 1846 – June 1, 1912) American architect and urban designer: Director of Works for the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago; leading role in the  master plans for the development of a number of cities, including Chicago and downtown Washington, D.C. He also designed several famous buildings, including the Flatiron Building in New York City and Union Station in Washington D.C. Daniel Burnham also designed the cities of Chicago, Manila, and Baguio.
The Court of Honor at The World's Fair: Columbian Exposition. This was a World's Fair held in Chicago in 1893 to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Christopher Columbus's arrival in the New World in 1492.    I just finished reading a book about this (The Devil In the White City, by Erik Larson), so I'm frolicing in seeing more photos of the Fair right now.
