Beautiful deck. Carefully proportioned new railings and boxed column bases lend solidity and provide a sense of enclosure on the porch. Special accent lighting at night brings out the detailing and forms of the column assemblies.
This pergola has the natural, classic look of turn of the century lodges in the mountains of New England with it's split timber and curved beams. It's a beautiful, substantial way to add an additional outdoor room to the back yard. I love the stacked stone and the craftsman style lighting accompanying the lodge in the picture shown.
Before & After porch columns. I love how the stone not only updates but with the white covered pillars, gives a relaxed look rather than a shack look. (You don't even really notice the dumpster dive rocking chair in the after pic.)
Another example of Mission/Arts and Crafts being perfectly compatible with Western decor. I'm working a chair like this now, hope to cover the seat in an interestingly patterned cowhide - or leather, if I chicken out.
