England - Cornwall - St. Ives. is a harbor town and resort, on the North Cornish Coast. The colourful Mediterranean atmosphere, maze of cobbled streets and jumble of fishermens cottages blend with an eclectic selection of shops, galleries and studios around the picturesque, working harbor. Built up Coast (1960) Peter Lanyon. You can see the coast line in his paintings but also the other smaller buildings in the foreground - the level of abstraction reflects the physical experience of being amongst the elements whilst painting. It also shows how his paintings lead the artist to think about assemblages after starting to glide, taking further risks with his work which pay off and result in a journey taken across his home landscape.
