Micklegate Bar, York, UK an ancient entrance to the city of York. Micklegate Bar is by tradition one of the most important ceremonial entrances to York, through which Kings and Queens would enter the city.
It was at Micklegate Bar that Lancatrian forces mounted the heads of Richard, Duke of York, Edmund, Earl of Rutland, and Richard Neville, Earl of Salisbury. A paper crown was placed on the Duke of York's head to mock his aspirations for the throne.
