Chinese Red bayberry is another local specialty of Ningbo. Red bayberries of Ningbo can be dated to 7000 years ago. Findings at the Hemudu Culture Site showed when Chinese started to eat wild red bayberries, and the planting of red bayberries can be traced back to the Han Dynasty (about 2000 years ago).
1750 Chinese Vase in the Royal Collection, UK - From the curators' comments: "A tall baluster-shaped pale blue Chinese porcelain vase, painted with white rams among rocks beneath a pine tree and bamboo at the front and with five bats at the back. The depictions symbolise spring and happiness. The vase is decorated with French gilt-bronze mounts dating circa 1760-1770."
