Knit for Kids began in 1996 though Guideposts magazine as a way to send hand-knit or crocheted sweaters to children in need. Thanks to people like you, over half a million children have received something new for the first time in their lives. As children grow out of their sweaters, they have become cherished hand-me-downs to other children. In order to help even more children, Guideposts magazine turned the Knit for Kids program over to long-time partner World Vision in 2009.
"Hilly.' I just need to hear her say it. 'Just who is all that pound cake money being raised for, anyway?' She rolls her eyes. 'The Poor Starving Children of Africa?' I wait for her to catch the irony of this, that she'll send money to colored people overseas, but not across town." (331)
Moms Give Back Guide Feature Kidbox Cares, our partnership with nonprofit K.I.D.S./Fashion Delivers, is dedicated to providing new clothing to children in needy families. For every whole Kidbox purchased, a new clothing item will be given to a child who really needs it. Our goal? To distribute new clothes to over one million kids.
