Deployment "hand" flag. I stole this idea from Central Texas Christian school. I used the "hands" of our battalion's soldiers kids (wow, that is a mouth full!) to make them 'welcome home' banners. A cheap sheet and some kids with paint on their hands or even construction paper hands will work well.
Table protector made from cheap sheet vinyl flooring. I made table protectors for both my dining and kitchen tables for under 11 dollars. Lay the vinyl upside down on the table (the printed "right" side will be on the table, felt "wrong" side will be up), lay on the floor & using a Sharpie, trace the shape of your table. Cut out with scissors. The pad helps keep table cloths from sliding off the table, gives some heat protection (I still use trivets), and also adds some sound absorption.
