Portrait of a killer: Charles Manson, age five, in a never before seen picture taken just before his first day at elementary school. His dimpled cheeks and shy smile conceal the true nature that lurked within
True Crime Diary | Michelle McNamara ponders what would have happened if Twitter and Facebook were around when Charles Manson egged his followers to kill Sharon Tate and her friends in 1969. I don't exactly buy McNamara's triumphant tone re: the virtues of living in a digital age where information is fast and handy, but she makes a good argument for how we have learned to consume information in a rapid way and let it affect our lives.
CTL - Leslie Louise Van Houten (born August 23, 1949) is a former member of Charles Manson's "Family" who was convicted of the murders of Leno and Rosemary LaBianca. Van Houten is described by supporters and prison staff as a model prisoner. She is a college tutor and is studying for a master's degree in humanities. In 40 years, she has never had an infraction on her prison record.
