BRAIN STEM -its function- and COMPRESSION -what it thus affects: Acting as a relay center, the brainstem connects the cerebrum and cerebellum to the spinal cord. The brainstem performs many automatic functions such as breathing, heart rate, body temperature, wake and sleep cycles, digestion, sneezing, and coughing. Ten of the 12 cranial nerves originate in the brainstem.
The Brain: In this video Paul Andersen explains the structures and functions of seventeen major parts of the brain. He begins with a quick discussion of brain evolution and ends with a review of the major parts presented inside the brainstem, cerebellum, thalamus, and cerebrum.
“The two lobes of the cerebrum were called by the ancients Cain and Abel, and have much to do with the legend of the curse with Cain, which is literally the curse of unbalance. For the murder of the spirit of the equilibrium Cain is sent forth a wanderer of the earth.” ~ Manly P. Hall
