"Vacie su mente. Sea sin forma, informe. Como el agua. Tu pones el agua en una botella y se convierte en la botella. Tu pones en una tetera, y se convierte en tetera. El agua puede fluir, o puede derramarse. Sea agua, mi amigo!" -Bruce Lee
Bruce Lee in Return of the Dragon (Way of the Dragon). The world of karate--even the word itself--was introduced to me through this man. He made fight scenes flow like a choreographed dance sequence. Like the resourceful MacGyver, Lee could take ANY object and make it into a weapon. And he's the first FIIIINE Asian man I ever saw. Such a cool dude.
Bruce Lee was much more than his movie star persona. He was a philosopher, artist, husband, father, and icon. His words were both creative and influential. And during his life he fought many stereotypes of Asian American men, showing strength and intensity but also intelligence and heart. He is an international icon whose image lives on and his words have just touched the surface of possibilities in today's world toward a more collective tomorrow.
