One of her favorite scenes from the film features a lavender dress worn by Daisy Buchanan (Carey Mulligan) that is described by Fitzgerald as being accessorized with brass buttons and a Tricorne hat. To offset the military details, Martin decided to make the headpiece so big everyone on set called it the "Flying Nun" hat. "Everyone in my department was pretty unenthusiastic about it but Carey Mulligan just put the hat on and made it work," Martin tells The News.
