Edisaun Oinoin (Today’s Edition in Tetun language) is an experimental film reusing online TV news footage from Timor-Leste. Made specially for the Dili Artists in Residence exhibition at the Sporting Club on the 12th June 2010.
Papagaiu (Kite in Tetun language) is a short film by Victor de Sousa, produced by David Palazón and shot at Tasitolu beach in Dili (Timor-Leste). The film depicts two young boys recycling waste from the beach to build the kites they play with during the windy August afternoons. The film’s soundtrack Bom fazer (doing good) from the album Casa de Boa Vida, was generously provided by our friends Anje & Kim, better known as The View from Madeleine’s Couch.
Tebe Tasi (Sea Dance, in Tetun language) is a film by David Palazón performed by dancer Colleen Coy at the pier in Com, Lospalos (Timor-Leste) in November 2011. The music was composed by the leading East Timorese composer Simão Barreto. Tebe Tasi is a visual interpretation of ‘Itinerary for a landscape, a symphonic poem’ performed by the Orquestra Sinfónica de Radiodifusão Portuguesa, and recorded from a radio broadcasting in 1983 for the album ‘Symphonic Works’ by Simão Barreto.
Murmuris del cor, Mimi o Sumaseba (lit. Si escoltes amb atenció), Whisper of the Heart, is a 1995 Japanese animated romantic drama film directed by Yoshifumi Kondō and written by Hayao Miyazaki based on the 1989 manga of the same name by Aoi Hiiragi.
#6: my pinner's choice is my all time favourite movie, Coraline. I love it so much, I've seen it so much I can quote it and I want to get a tattoo of a quote from it on my shoulder. I read the book, too, and I love it. I loved the creepy aspect but how it's still a kid's book. I loved the colours and the weird storyline. I'm a huge fan of directors like Tim Burton so when I see movies with the creepy feel that Tim Burton gives I immediately am a fan. The movie was not directed by Tim Burton…
