Write your name in elements! A fun way to introduce the Periodic Table of Elements. Write your name using the element symbols, add the atomic number and name of the element. I use this with my 3rd grade Science Club students - they love creating their names out of the elements!
FREE! It's All About the Atom: Warm Up Activity Students will be using their Periodic Table, and their knowledge of the vocabulary in Atomic Structure to complete a worksheet for a given element. They will be determining things like atomic number, number of protons, neutrons and electrons, and nuclear charge for an element.
Wow what an amazing idea to teach the history of the atom to students with learning difficulties. Not only the atom but this method of teaching can be applied to any number of teaching topics. I've also incorporated this activity into my Atomic Theory Lesson, link in the article.
Students will calculate the number of protons, neutrons & electrons for various elements (beginning 13 elements). Then students will draw of a diagram of the structure of each atom. If you would like a .doc worksheet please email and I will send that as well!
