Acropolis of Athens, Greece. The Acropolis, a Unesco World Heritage Site, is made up of three temples dating back to the 5th century BC. The largest and most impressive temple is the Parthenon, dedicated to the Greek goddess Athena. She was the goddess of wisdom, courage and strategic warfare in ancient Greek religion and mythology. Athena appears in Greek mythology as the patron and helper of many heroes, including Odysseus, Jason, and Heracles.
