Untitled, 1938. Ad Reinhardt was an American painter and writer, renowed for his influence on Minimalism. Reinhardt studied (1931–5) literature and then art history under Meyer Schapiro (b 1904) at Columbia University where was editor of the humorous Jester, for which he created covers in a flattened Cubist style.
