This is a fun activity to explore the science of balance and weight in the classroom. Have the students use the classroom balance scales to see how much items from their pencil boxes weigh. Does it weigh 1 bear, 2 bears, 3 bears, or more? Your students will have fun weighing their school supplies and recording their data!
Story map (in this case The 3 Bears): on a long piece of paper draw a path down the middle; write "once upon a time" at one end and "the end" at the other; draw simple pictures along the path for the kids to color and to aid in retelling the story; more can be added by the kids. In this case, draw the 3 bears, the woods, Goldilocks, 3 bowls, 3 chairs, 3 beds, and the woods again.
Goldilocks/3 Bears. 1 large sheet of bulletin board paper, draw a path down the middle. At one end of the path write "Once upon a time" and at the other end write "The End". Retell the story together and adding basic drawings along the sides of the path (such as 3 bears and then a little further down a girl and then 3 bowls, etc). Let the children take turns walking the path while retelling the story
