Former Chief Financial Officer Andy Fastow says Enrons bankruptcy could have been avoided. Although often blamed for this financial crisis, he says his one time boss, Jeff Skilling is also not to blame for what is one of the largest bankruptcies in U.S history. Fastow realised that the transactions of Enron were misleading and fraudulent - they made the company look healthy when it was not, yet he claims that these transactions did not cause Enron to go bankrupt.

There is a constant battle between the government wanting to reduce inflation, and the issue of unemployment. Government policies often provide New Zealanders temporary work, yet in with the aim to have a consistently low inflation rate unemployment begins to increase. As a result of this unions are put on the back foot, defending it's members while being forced to settle for these low inflation rates.

An article released by New Zealand Herald this morning states how the Act Party aim to drop the company tax rate from 28% to 12.5%. This will result in an influx of new business which will provide more jobs and increase wages. Act believe this can be achieved relatively easily, because company tax raises far less revenue for the government than income tax and GST.
