The Leggett House. c.1901. Address:  1106 S. Grand Ave. The home is a 3 story Classic Revival Mansion built of locally quarried Carthage Stone. Out of the 82 windows, 11 are curved glass. The Phelps House, 1146 Grand Ave. c.1895.  The land to the Phelps House was obtained in 1868 and the home was designed by Colonel William Phelps and completed in 1895 of grey Carthage marble, which was locally mined. The house has many unique features, such as original hand painted wallpaper, combination gas/electric chandeliers, functioning dumbwaiter and a heated cloak closet. Former Thomas Davey House. 1130 Grand, c. 1888. Noteworthy features of this 2 1/2 story Queen Anne home include a domed turret with recessed porch and superb brick chimneys with decorative caps. The Victorian porch of this significant structure was removed at - an early date and replaced with a Neo-classical one. There are a number of fine stained glass windows. Horace M. Baker House -  Historic home was built in 1893 in Carthage.  The owner Horace M. Baker whos picture still remains inside the front door on the wall of this georgous home was big in mining.  In fact, some of the original mining tools are placed at the upper level of this home.  The basement of this home has a dirt floor with separate rooms divided by stone walls.
