Johnson Witehira - Ko Aotearoa Tenei - Maui

Johnson Witehira - The name of the exhibition and inspiration for the artworks is taken from Elsdon Best’s work, The Land of Tara and they who settled it (1917), published in the Journal of the Polynesian Society. While giving an account of those who first came to Te Whanganui-a-Tara, Best’s writing also sheds light on the meaning and stories behind many of the places in and around Wellington.
