My house is huge, but the stairways are narrow so this wouldn't work for me, but I still love the idea! I would definitely eliminate the spaces between the shelves and the stairs, but I really like the idea of an individual cubby for each member of the family as well. It would be a great way to end the "the bus is here" shoe and coat scramble, once and for all!
