Rasayana (Tonic) Drink
5min · 1 serving Ingredients • 5-10 saffron threads (soak for 5-10mins), • 2 Tb hot water, • 1 cup milk (un-homogenised) (use any other alternative milk except soy. If you are lactose intolerant don’t use cow’s milk.) • 1-2 tsp ghee, • ½-1 tsp organic honey Soak saffron in hot water, then add to milk and bring to the boil. When milk froths, wait 30sec until froth subsides and boil again. Repeat again so it is boiled 3 times. Remove from heat and allow for cooling, (this is done by pouring cup to cup). When less than lukewarm (i.e., 40 deg) add honey. Stir in a clock wise direction. Drink quickly. Don’t sip. Add cinnamon or nutmeg to taste. Sit quietly for 5-10mins after drinking.
