Manchester Central (Grade II*, formerly G-Mex) hosted the gymnastics programme Stephen Richards - http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2816089 It has a massive segmentally-vaulted shed of wrought iron and glass (a span of 210 feet, only 30 feet less than St Pancras). Grade II* listed. The station closed in 1967, and was converted in 1986 by Essex, Goodman & Suggitt.
