Shane Cotton: 'Three-quarter view', 2005 - information about the painting, Included is a video with audio commentary on the artist's ideas and symbolism for his artwork. The commentary is also provided as text on the web page. The painting highlights 'identity' and the mixed cultures of Maori and pakeha that represent the New Zealand population. Cotton appropriated an iconic image of a tattooed Barnet Burns as the basis of his work, but reinterprets it from a contemporary viewpoint.
