I was fascinated when I went to San Francisco to see Pohutakawa trees lining the streets there.I'm wondering if they will grow here in WA The Pohutakawa Tree. Native to New Zealand. Its our 'Christmas' tree. It flowers at Christmas time.

One Tree Hill, Auckland (tree vandalised) Tree chopped! NZ's terrorist attack really hurt us Kiwi's. That tree conspicuous from 30 miles changed the scenery forever!

This Santa has been on display in Auckland City for about 50 years.  He used to be put up on the old Farmers building, but when that was sold and demolished it was purchased by Whitcoulls and now he is constructed on their big building in Queen Street each year.  His eye winks and his finger moves.

The fountain base at Mission Bay, Auckland, New Zealand.  This is on the opposite side of Rangitoto Island from where we live.  Its about 35 mins drive away.  Usually full of children (and adults) during the heat of summer.

Alberton House, Mt Albert, Auckland, New Zealand.  Built by the Kerr-Taylor family in 1863.  It is now a protected house under the historic places act.  Its open to the public and just gorgeous.  Fully furnished in the style of the era, includes a seperate dairy and well.
