Art Deco Weekend - Napier, New Zealand

On February 3rd, 1931 a huge earthquake hit Napier, New Zealand and destroyed nearly a whole town. 236 lives were lost and the earthquake remains as New Zealand's deadliest natural disaster. The township decided to rebuild straight away and did so in the latest trend - Art Deco. The Art Deco Trust works to preserve, protect Napier's Art Deco Heritage. Every February a festival is held to celebrate the glamour of the 1930's era with live music, theater, parades, shows and so much more.
