This is a really great video on how to place a catheter in a small animal. The only suggestions I would give is they used WAY more tape than was necessary (note the bent angle of the catheter after the tape was applied), which will make removal more difficult. Also if this catheter were staying in for longer (say overnight) you need to clean leaked blood off the leg before taping. Blood is an irritant to skin and the patient is more likely to self-mutilate if it is left.
