Smart Designs for Small Kitchens | Dwell; This home in New Zealand is both affordable and small, and the kitchen reflects the practicality of the entire project. A trio of architects trio designed and built everything in the house, from the structure down to the cabinetry, tweaking and modifying details along the way. Thanks to their sweat equity, the residence came in at about $130 per square foot and taught them the value of onsite decision-making.
"Waiheke Island Local Rock House": Indigenous stone from Waiheke, an island off the New Zealand coast, creates a bridge and grotto-like living area between vertical wood-louvered volumes. The overall effect of this summer home is striking, combining elements both rustic and modern. | Patterson Associates (2010)
