"While in France head south to the Avignon market. Held several times a year, it's great for decorative antiques. Prices are generally lower here than in Paris. While there, be sure to make a trip to L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue where there are a huge number of antique shops. Mostly decorative things more than strictly period, but a few outstanding dealers. I always stay at La Mirande in Avignon. A perfect hotel next to the Popes Palace. Dinner in the antique kitchen in the basement is a huge treat.
